October 6th.
"Bula" as they say in Fiji.We arrived last night in torrential rain . It took 45 minutes by taxi to get to the Seashell @Momi and was quite an exciting ride in the dark across very bumpy roads. We were greeted by delightfully friendly staff and a plague of toads . Toads everywhere on balcony on path, at the front desk but thankfully not in the room. quieter but not so attractive as chickens! They seem to be a night thing because as I write this one has just crawled over my foot!! There is a beetle as big as a small bird flitting around and 10 interested toads . Geoff has spotted 13 geckos on the patio too so the critter count has reached taking off my shoes time and borrowing some of Geoff's digits too.
However before extolling Fiji I must finish off Hawaii. The helicopter ride was STUNNING. I was rather nervous but soon the views just got rid of all the worries and were simply breathtaking. We visited the National Botanic Gardens on Saturday and toured the rest of the Island on the Sunday, taking in a coconut festival in the process(Oh bliss so many things to do with a coconut!). By the end of the week Geoff was becoming an Islander- not quite driving with his feet out of the window but certainly making the 'hang loose ' sign to other road users!!
It was with a fair amount of sadness that we left Kauai and headed once more for Honolulu. It was a short stop but we managed to squeeze in sunset over Waikiki beach and a couple of Mai Tais at Moose McGillycuddys our favourite eating place.

Back to Fiji- An amazing site, only 15 of us in the whole resort, delightful people and so much space. We walked along the beach this morning watching herons, sandpipers and mud skippers and collecting shells. The rest of the day was spent poolside so we are really exhausted. Tomorrow we are snorkeling and Island hopping before an early start takes us on to New Zealand the following day.
not having much success at showing photos so many of the sites bar everything except basic text
